What has been your favorite role?
I’m really only known for Terry. Terry’s an original improvised character so I always have a blast. He’s nothing like me, so he gives me permission to do things I would never do. Terry’s on-screen wife is Trish, and she is someone I’ve known for years and an experienced improviser. We enjoy working together and making each other laugh. We just finished a new series TNT FUBAR. Terry’s gotten to work with Ricky from Trailer Park Boys. I also was fortunate enough to play Robert, Leslie Nielsen’s nephew in Doctor*Ology.
What do you do when you are not performing?
I’m a hyphenate, so I’m always hustling. When you create your own work, there’s development, producing and pitching. I’m also an editor, so I spend a lot of time editing footage. My wife, Immanuela, and I are very busy producing shows and raising two humans.
What organisation / activity are you involved with or passionate about that people would find interesting?
As improvisation is my bread and butter, the Loose Moose Theatre here in Calgary is a place I like to give back to. Whether it’s teaching or performing on Saturday’s show. It’s a volunteer-based community improv theatre. A great place to learn and perform the skills any actor could benefit from.
What Director would you like to work with?
Bill Hader, or Christopher Guest, the king of Mock Documentary.
What is your favorite movie and/or TV show?
Currently, I’m really enjoying HBO’s Barry. The Wire is a work of art, and I am a huge fan of Curb Your Enthusiasm. I can watch the Back to the Future(s) on any given day.
As a Performer, what is one thing you wish you would have known sooner?
Don’t wait for the good parts, create your own work.
