What has been your favorite role?
It’s difficult for me to choose a favourite because I’ve learned something new that I’ve taken with me moving forward from each role I’ve done. If I had to choose, I think my favourite role was stunt doubling for the character of Trisha in the Abandons. This role involved a lot of fast riding in some incredibly beautiful locations on some excellent horses. I learned so much from the people I worked with and I had a lot of fun with the stunts we did. I also loved the wardrobe, which was so different from anything I had worn before!
What do you do when you are not performing?
In my spare time when I’m not performing, I’m often spending time with my horse or visiting with friends and family. In my day job, I’m an accountant at my family’s construction company. Its a pretty extreme change of pace to go from the office to being on set but I really enjoy the different challenges both jobs bring!
What activity are you involved with or passionate about that people would find interesting?
Like many others in the stunt world I am very involved and passionate about horses but I am involved in the English world of show jumping rather than rodeos. I spent many years training and competing at Spruce Meadows and have competed across Canada as well as some competitions in the USA and Europe. When I started riding I rode Western, I think its really helped me to bring elements of both disciplines to my riding.
What Director would you like to work with?
I think Martin Scorsese or Christopher Nolan would be very interesting to work with, I love their films. Hopefully they have a Western sitting around waiting to be made!
What is your favorite movie and/or TV show?
I just finished The Handmaid’s Tale and I’d say that it’s currently my favourite but it changes all the time. I really enjoy the Dystopia/Sci-Fi/Thriller genre of shows and movies like Severance or Legion.
As a Performer, what is one thing you wish you would have known sooner?
If you have the skills to do what is being asked, the next best ability is availability. When I first started, I said “No” to some opportunities because of prior plans but now I try to say “Yes” to every opportunity and make the days work as best I can. Saying “Yes” has lead to more working opportunities and allowed me to gain experience, knowledge, and new skills.
