What has been your favorite role?
I have to say playing Mrs. Decker on Tin Star. I found the collaborative approach taken on that show to be very refreshing and learning an accent is always fun!
What do you do when you are not performing?
Pre-COVID, I spent 20 weeks of the year running a film workshop called Upstart. I very much believe it has a positive role to play within the film community in Alberta and can’t wait to get back to it!
Travelling and spending time with my family are others passions of mine. I like to combine the two as much as possible and have been to Ireland, Scotland, England, Portugal, France, Italy, Cuba, Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Mexico, U.S.A., and have taken many road trips across Canada.
What Director would you like to work with?
If I had a choice of Director to work with I would have to say Ron Howard. I love him! He gets the best performances from his cast and the stories he tells have a way of cutting straight to the heart.
What is your favorite movie and/or TV show?
I would never be able to make a decision on what my favorite movie or tv show is because there are way too many. For me they are like good books – we like them for different reasons and at different times in our lives. I love good honest story telling with believable characters just as much as I love huge blockbuster fantasy films. Just depends on what I’m in the mood for.
As a Performer, what is one thing you wish you would have known sooner?
As a Performer, I wish that I had believed more in myself a little sooner. That I didn’t waste so much of the early days worried about whether or not I was playing the role “correctly”. Now I focus on my craft and do my best. People will either like it or not and I no longer take it personally. The younger version of me didn’t understand that. I had to shake the “Canadian” out of her and stop apologizing. I love acting and that’s enough for me.
