June is a month Canada recognizes National Indigenous Peoples and celebrates June 21st and the summer solstice. Is there anything you would like to share that you will acknowledge or celebrate with your family, community, or self?
Every day for our family and community is living Indigenous day. The reason is, that we are still practicing our culture and our spirituality from the time we wake up to the time we go to bed. It is essential as First Nations people that we continue to practice and seek after the knowledge of our ancestors and to keep our values and way of life so that our ancestors’ sacrifices for survival are cherished and honoured eternally.
Is there an oral tradition, elder or anything you would like to share about what keeps you grounded in your culture while working in movies today?
Building.
