What has been your favorite role?
Depends on if you’re talking theatre of Film. Theatre: Queen Elizabeth in Timothy Findley’s Elizabeth Rex, I have a passion for Elizabeth I. Or Leda in Communion by Daniel Macivor. Film: Elizabeth Stone in It’s Not My Fault. I got to do an homage to Peter Falk and work with some great people. I loved my time on Blackstone as well. Playing Marilyn Cole was a seminal learning experience for me.
What do you do when you are not performing?
I’m a gardener, knitter and birder. I love film and so watching is a part of my joy. Cooking also is a joyful thing.
What organization / activity are you involved with or passionate about that people would find interesting?
I’ve been teaching for many years now and that’s something I find rewarding. Finding ways to mentor people in my community and support their growth is also important to me. It’s not an organization but I like to think that it’s a meaningful contribution.
What Director would you like to work with?
Greta Gerwig, Claire Denis and Terrence Malick…maybe David Fincher.
What is your favorite movie and/or TV show?
I have had many but two TV series that stay with me at the moment is The Great and Sex Education. I devoured those. Movie, definitely Malcolm and Marie directed by Sam Levinson or, oh god, so many others.
As a Performer, what is one thing you wish you would have known sooner?
Don’t compare yourself to anyone, it really is the death of joy and creativity I’d say. And no matter the highs or lows, nothing is permanent so don’t dwell on either, it doesn’t help.
