What has been your favorite role?
I’ve held almost every position from Actor, Director, Writer, Executive Producer, Producer, etc. and I loved them all in their own way. But ultimately, I’m an Actor first and forever. Nothing beats being on set doing what you love doing. And usually what you’re doing on set…….IS FU@%!#G AWESOME!!
What do you do when you are not performing?
Other than being a dad to my 3-year-old son, over the years I’ve gotten involved in many different aspects of our industry. When I’m not on set acting or directing, I teach Acting classes in Calgary (IG: @apexactingstudios), Run a Photography Studio (chadrookphoto.com), design Film Posters for Film Productions Companies, run a YouTube Channel and am currently creating an Acting App which I hope to finish up and release soon.
What organization / activity are you involved with or passionate about that people would find interesting?
Our Acting Studio, “Apex Acting Studios” which I run with my Business Partner/Coach/Fellow ACTRA Member, Kevin Moriarity is definitely becoming something bigger than expected and something I’m very proud of. We have Sold Out our classes every month for the last 15 months of being based in Calgary and we now have an Acting Community of over 90 Actors. I really welcome actors (both beginning and advanced) to come and check us out. It is directly Film & TV driven, taught by WORKING Actors, and our students are CONSTANTLY BOOKING ROLES! What sets us apart from others, is that we also hold monthly “Showcases” where we will have Professional Casting Directors, Agents, Producers and/or Directors come and monitor our student’s performances to assist in helping them obtain professional representation and to also get them on the radar of Casting and Directors.
What Director would you like to work with?
Spielberg. GOAT!
What is your favorite movie and/or TV show?
“The Office” is definitely my favorite TV Show (I’ve watched it WAY too many times), and as for Films, I’d have to say, “Terminator 2: Judgement Day”, haha. It was one of the reasons I became an actor. I LOVE IT!! Nostalgia overload.
As a Performer, what is one thing you wish you would have known sooner? I wish I was told that Actors don’t need Film School to be an actor, haha, and I wish someone taught me earlier on the importance of networking, creating your own content and not just waiting around the phone for my agent to call me, haha.
