What has been your favorite role? Honestly I can usually find something to love about every role I’ve played…
CALGARY, AB (March 26, 2021) — Professional performers in Alberta are pleased with the Alberta government’s announcement today to remove the $10-million per project cap on the provincial Film and Television Tax Credit. “This is fantastic news for Alberta performers, our production community and for Alberta’s economy,” said ACTRA Alberta President Blair Young. “Removing the $10-million per project cap ensures that our production incentives will attract medium and big-budget film and television series and make Alberta competitive with other jurisdictions throughout North America. We look forward to more projects coming to Alberta and more opportunities for our local performers to shine.” “We are pleased to see the Alberta government fulfil its promise to support Alberta’s creative industries by continuing to enhance film and television production incentives,” said ACTRA National President David Sparrow. “As Canada’s fourth largest production centre, Alberta’s screen industry is a significant economic driver in the province. This boost will grow Alberta’s industry and benefit the entire Canadian ecosystem.” Alberta’s film, television and digital media industry is a significant economic driver in the province, creating over 5,000 direct and spin-off full-time equivalent jobs and contributing over $200 million to Alberta’s GDP. An environmentally friendly industry, Alberta screen production sector supports rural economic development, promotes tourism, employs thousands of Albertans and brings diversity to Alberta’s economy. The province estimates the tax credit has a significant return on investment, with every $1 in tax credits distributed creating roughly $4 that is reinvested into Alberta’s economy.
